How do I add an encoder to a server?

This article provides an overview of the process required to add an EdgeVis encoder to EdgeVis Server.

Getting started with your EdgeVis encoder

This article provides a brief overview of the EdgeVis Live architecture and step-by-step instructions for installing and operating your EdgeVis encoder.

To operate the encoder you will need to set up, or have access to, the following architecture:

Step 1: Set up the server

Do you currently have a working EdgeVis Server? If not:

  1. Install EdgeVis Server on a PC that can be accessed by your encoders

Once installed (or if you already have a working EdgeVis Server):

  1. Create an encoder account that your encoder will use to authenticate with the server

  2. Assign a licence to the encoder account
    ​

Step 2: Set up the encoder

  1. Follow the steps in the user guide for your encoder model to complete the initial setup steps

  2. Use the credentials you have created in Step 1 to connect your encoder to the server

For help with Step 2 consult the EdgeVis Hardware Installation Guide for your encoder model.

Step 3: View the video

  1. Install EdgeVis Client onto the viewing device (available from our Download Center)

  2. Enjoy viewing the video from our clients
