Do you have your server and comms details?
You'll need each of these to get your encoder connected to EdgeVis Server:
1. The address of the EdgeVis Server your encoder should connect to...
e.g. 54.23.56.266 or video.mycompany.com
2. The login details for your encoder for the account created on your server...
e.g. encoder name: warehouse-camera, encoder password: P$ssw0rd!
3. A communications method that your encoder uses to connect to your server...
e.g. a valid 4G SIM card, or a broadband internet connection
If you have all of the necessary details proceed to the next section, otherwise...
I don't have 1 or 2 - what do I do?
If EdgeVis Server is already installed, either you or your server administrator will need to create an account for your encoder, and you'll use your server's accessible IP address and your encoder's account details to proceed.
If EdgeVis Server hasn't been installed yet, then you (or your IT department) will need to install it first, before creating an account for your encoder.
I don't have 3 - what do I do?
You'll need to decide how you're going to connect your encoder to a connection that can access your server. In most circumstances, your EdgeVis Server will be accessible from the internet, and you'll need to provide your encoder with an internet connection - normally by using a cellular SIM card, or a broadband internet connection
Your encoder doesn't need any special type of connection or SIM card - any normal consumer or commercial data SIM card will work, or a standard broadband connection. There are no special requirements such as a fixed IP address.
Otherwise, if you've got all three items you're ready to get your encoder set up.

Proceed to connecting to your encoder's local web set up interface to begin setting up your encoder... you'll be redirected back to this page once completed.
Once you've got your encoder connected to EdgeVis Server and added your IP cameras you're ready to allow users to use the core features - e.g. viewing both live and recorded footage from cameras remotely.
