Step 1 - Install EdgeVis Server v9 (if necessary)
EVVR Containers will only work on EdgeVis Server v9 or newer, so if you don't already have access to a v9 server you will need to install one first.
You have completed this step when you have the following information :
The IP Address and login details of your EdgeVis Server
Step 2 - Create an encoder account for your new EVVR Container instance
Log on to your v9 server
If necessary, create a Domain to host your encoder account.
Enter the domain that will host your encoder.
Inside the domain, you will see a header that outlines how many accounts exist in your domain (for a new domain these counts will be 0):
Click the 'X total' link in the Encoders box.
Click the Create one encoder button on the right.
Enter an encoder name and password - these are the details you will need to program into your instance of EVVR Container later on.
You have completed this step when you have the following information :
An encoder account name
An encoder account password
Step 3 - Prepare your hardware for EVVR Container
An EVVR Container is significantly different from a standard EdgeVis encoder. A normal hardware encoder takes complete control of the underlying hardware and will manage all communications methods and reboot the hardware automatically in error conditions.
EVVR Container is simply a software application that runs on an underlying operating system. It is the job of the user to install the operating system, set up any desired communication methods, and ensure they are reliable.
You have completed this step when you have a (virtual) machine with Ubuntu or Raspberry Pi installed.
Step 3 - Install EVVR Container onto your machine
There are multiple different ways to install EVVR Container onto your machine, depending on your platform and use case:
Recommended - Online installation using Docker and a compose file
This installs EVVR Container from our Docker repository, making it easy to update in future.
Instructions for Ubuntu users
Ubuntu users can install using a .DEB file

Step 4 - Configure your EVVR Container instance
Once installed you now must setup your EVVR Container to connect it to your EdgeVis Server and add any desired cameras.
Step 5 - You're ready to go...
There are a number of ways to proceed:
HIGHLY-RECOMMENDED: If you have multiple cameras, you should now enable the same number of output streams.
Configure your EVVR Container to add additional output EdgeVis streams
Install and connect EdgeVis Client to your server to view the video from your container.
Once you have configured and tested your EVVR Container, you can utilise any of the standard ways to utilise EdgeVis video.
