How to use VMS Gateway
Updated over a week ago

Once you've logged into VSG Gateway you'll be presented with a list of machines within your VMS Gateway cluster:

In this example VMS Gateway has been installed onto two machines - if you have only installed VMS Gateway onto one machine, only one machine will be listed.

Settings up your EdgeVis encoders to appear in your VMS

The general steps to use VMS Gateway are:

  1. Create a virtual ONVIF device on your machine

  2. Add your desired EdgeVis encoders to your virtual ONVIF device

  3. Go to your VMS and search for ONVIF devices on your network. Your VMS should find your virtual ONVIF devices.

  4. Add the desired virtual ONVIF device to your VMS, and select the desired output stream.

Virtual ONVIF devices are what your VMS will see on the network - they effectively pretend to be ONVIF compatible IP cameras on your network. Each virtual ONVIF device will have multiple output streams - each of which will correspond to an EdgeVis encoder.

The above steps would be repeated until you've:

  • added all your EdgeVis encoders to VMS Gateway,

  • then added all of your output streams to your VMS.
