How do I convert an existing user account to use Single Sign-on?

Once you enable SSO, you can convert your existing users to use your identity provider to authenticate against.

Introduction

After enabling single sign-on (SSO), your existing users within domains can be converted to use SSO. In practice, this means that instead of using their current EdgeVis login password / 2FA codes, they will be redirected to your identity provider for authentication, which will handle all login and security credentials, settings and policies.

Steps

The following steps will convert a user to use SSO:

  1. Go to the user's page within EdgeVis - this will show that SSO is currently disabled:

  2. Check if your user has a valid and correct email address - SSO won't work without this! If not, hit the Edit under the email setting and enter the user's email address.

  3. Under Single Sign-On hit the Enable link - this will turn on SSO for this user.

From this point forward, the user will be prompted to use your identity provider's login mechanism to authenticate when accessing EdgeVis Server or EdgeVis Client.
