Introduction
The licences for all your encoders and cameras come from a licence pool with a common expiry date. This is dictated by the terms of your commercial agreement.
What happens when my licence expires?
As your licence pool approaches (then passes) the licence expiry date, the system will take the following action to warn, then terminate your licence:
Time to expiry date | Action taken |
30 days before | You will see warnings within the encoder local web interfaces, EdgeVis Server, and Licensing Portal that you are approaching the end of your licence validity. |
On expiry date | You will see errors within the encoder local web interfaces, EdgeVis Server, and Licensing Portal that your licence has expired.
Your system will continue to function; however, you will not be able to add any new cameras to your v9 encoders, and you will not be able to authenticate any new servers with CLS.
(v8 encoders with an EdgeVis Legacy licence will continue to function forever) |
29 days after | In addition to the above, your encoder's video stream will show an on-screen warning about the impending shut-off. |
30 days after | Your v9 encoders will stop operating. They will still connect to EdgeVis Server, in case a new licence becomes available. |
What happens if I renew my licence?
If you renew your licence, your licence pool details will be updated to reflect the new termination date. Once notified of the update, you will be able to log in to the licensing portal and check the new expiry date.
If your licence pool is updated before your original licence expired, then all online encoders will obtain the new licence details automatically during their daily check-in.
β
- All licensing warnings will automatically disappear within one day.
