Networking Requirements

  • A static IP address - both on the internal local network and an external IP address (that your Internet-connected encoders/viewers will use to connect).

  • An internet connection that can support the combined bandwidth needs of the encoders and viewers.

  • An accurate synchronized system clock (Windows will do this automatically; Linux may require an NTP client).

Firewall ports

You will have to open these ports on both your server machine and on your internet router/firewall.

You will also have to forward these ports from your internet router onto your server machine:

  • Port 9300 (UDP) - Encoder communication

  • Port 9300 (TCP) – Viewer connection channel (unencrypted)

  • Port 9301 (TCP) – Viewer connection channel (encrypted)

  • Ports 2048 (UDP) – Viewer Video / Full-res / Recording Download channel

  • Port 9443 (TCP) - Standard SSL Server Web Management Interface

If you have a server cluster you must make sure the following ports are opened on your EdgeVis Server machines (but NOT to the internet) - each machine in your cluster must be able to talk to each other on these ports without port forwarding:

  • Port 1527 (TCP)

  • Port 47100 (TCP)

  • Port 47500 (TCP)

  • Port 9443 (TCP)
