How do I setup VMS Gateway on VMware Workstation?
Updated over a year ago

Running VMS Gateway on VMware Workstation requires some additional set up:

Prerequisites

These instructions are for VM Ware Workstation 17. Other flavours of VMware will likely work, but please ensure you setup your VMs in a similar fashion by adapting these instructions to your particular environment.

Step 1 - Setting up your virtual machine

  1. After running VMware Workstation select Create a New Virtual Machine from the main window:

  2. On the next window use the Browse... button to locate your Ubuntu ISO:

  3. On the next page enter the login details for an account you'll use to login to your virtual machine. You can then move through the wizard with the default settings until you reach the Ready to Create Virtual Machine page:

  4. Select the Customise Hardware... button, and on the resulting window, select Network Adapter from the list:

  5. In the Memory section you must upgrade this to a minimum of 4GB - however 8GB is strongly recommended to support more than a small number of output streams.

  6. In the Network connection section:

    1. Select the first radio button: Bridged...

    2. Hit the Configure Adapters button:

    3. You must untick all adapters except the LAN adapter that connects your PC to the network.

    4. Hit OK to close this dialog, then hit Close to return to the wizard

  7. Hit Finish in the wizard. You will see your virtual machine open, and the Ubuntu installation will proceed. You will be asked a few installation options - the default options are safe to use unless you wish to customise your setup.

Next Steps...

You should now return to the Installation Guide and continue with the preparation steps.
