To upgrade your body worn cameras to this software version, refer to the instructions in the BW500 Software Update article.

Multi-Function Buttons

Multiple actions can be added to a single button, such as automatically starting recording when the alert button is pressed. Actions will be performed in the order set. The Alert action requires a double press. If the Alert is added to a button, then all actions will only trigger when the button is double pressed.

Face recognition cannot be applied to multiple actions.

Do not add similar actions to same button i.e. recording start, then recording stop.

Multiple Wi-Fi SSIDs

The BW500 now supports connection to multiple Wi-Fi SSIDs. This is useful in scenarios where Wi-Fi is used for live streaming in a mobile environment, such as an office building, shopping centre, or in City zones with Wi-Fi coverage such as BT Wi-Fi.

Time zone setting

The time zone can now be standardised across your whole body worn fleet. The time zone information used to display the correct local time when live streaming. This can be set to either:

  • Automatic Timezone: (default) Time information is obtained from the mobile network; or

  • Manual Timezone: Set a specific timezone setting.

No licence warning message

A warning message is now displayed on the BW500 screen if an Edge Recording licence extension has not been assigned to the camera on the EdgeVis Server. This helps to make it clear why a camera is unable to record.

Log file automatic offload to VideoVault

If logging has been enabled in the Device Profile configuration then log files generated on the BW500 are now automatically offloaded into the VideoVault file system when the camera is docked. This makes it easier to obtain log files when they are requested by the Digital Barriers Support team.

Panic alert LED automatic timeout

If a panic alert is activated on the body worn camera and this is set to flash an LED, then the panic alert LED will continue to flash until the alert has been successfully delivered to the Server. Once delivered, the LED will automatically switch off after 60 seconds.

Known Issues

In rare cases, VideoVault may to continue to show that a camera battery is charging even though it is fully charged. Re-connecting the camera to the Docking Station will resolve this.
