What's new in EdgeVis 9.1 - Update 1?

Updated today

This patch includes a number of updates to several v9.1 components based on feedback from customers and reported issues.

EdgeVis Server v9.1.1

  • To help with fresh v9 server installs, the requirement to authenticate a newly installed server to CLS has been removed. This will help users who are only supporting v8 hardware encoders to get up and running quickly.

As a consequence, to access a v9 licensing pool, users must now manually authenticate servers to CLS after installation, by selecting All server settings -> Licensing server connection -> Change licensing authentication code.

  • Users can now use the web interface to configure a web proxy server - this is important for users who need to authenticate their server with CLS, or use an external SSO provider, but IT policies dictate the use of a web proxy.

  • The Linux installation guidance has been updated to improve the reliability of closing down older server versions before any upgrade is attempted.

Fixes:

  • Resolves an issue where v8 Mobile encoders would not correctly grant an EdgeVis Legacy licence when their licensing pool had been granted the appropriate entitlement.

  • Resolves an issue where it was impossible for a user to change their password if it was reset by an admin.

  • Resolves an issue where R800 users were unable to fully configure the analytics on their encoders.

EVVR Container v9.1.2

  • Users can now disable the use of ONVIF alarms and triggers for any particular IP camera, with a new toggle available from the Edit camera page on the local web interface.

For users who preconfigure their container, the settings can also be changed via the appropriate environment variables.

This allows the use of IP cameras that do not fully support the necessary ONVIF commands.

EdgeVis Client v9.1.1 (Windows/iOS), v9.1.2 (Android)

  • EdgeVis Client for Android will now add GPD EXIF data to still images, using the GPS coordinates of the encoder.

  • Users can now disable the auto-login mode from the Settings page.

Fixes:

  • (All) Fixes an issue where the client could not connect to a server with encoders set to wake-on-alarms

  • (All) Resolves a number of EdgeVis Client compatibility issues on older firmware/servers.

  • (All) Resolves a corruption issue when using full-res on mobile encoders when using small video resolutions.

  • (Windows) Improvements to the performance of SecureConnect, especially when retrieving IP camera web interfaces.

  • (Windows) Resolves an issue where the app’s controls would become unresponsive in full-screen mode.

  • (Windows) The client would hang after several days of use when used on certain hardware configurations.

  • (Windows) Resolves an issue when two users attempted to use full-resolution enhancement at the same time - the second user is now blocked from access and given an appropriate warning.

  • (iOS) The correct port was not used when redirecting a user to the EdgeVis Server interface when the user is required to change their password.

  • (iOS) The client would not properly show available recording times when the encoder is in a different timezone.

  • (Android) The client would incorrectly show ‘localhost’ as the IP address for all SecureConnect channels.

Local Viewer fixes

  • Local Viewer would not always show recording bookmarks.

  • Local Viewer would not open recordings at the correct time position when a user clicked on a listed event.
