Alerts are stored on the EdgeVis server and can be viewed and managed by multiple users. Alerts are generated from a rule. Rules can be configured on the server.
Receiving an alert
Once a rule has been triggered, the alert can be received in several ways. From an SMS message, Mobile Push Notification, Email and within the EdgeVis client.
SMS, Mobile Push and Email are all configured on the EdgeVis Server. Contact your System Administrator for more information.
Alerts are stored on the server. Alerts are sent to a distribution list and are shared across users on the distribution list.
Downloading alerts
By default, the first 30 alerts are downloaded to the client. If more alerts are required, scroll to the bottom of the list and select Load next 30
.
Viewing an alert
On receiving an Alert, the content can be viewed by clicking on the ↓ to expand the alert.
Alert states
Alerts have three possible states:
State | Meaning |
| A new alert. This is the initial state of all alerts |
| The alert has been acknowledged by a user |
| The alert has been closed by a user |
Alerts always move down a state at a time, i.e New
move to Acknowledged
and Acknowledged
move to Closed
.
Changing an Alert state
Alert states can be changed in a few ways.
expand the Alert by clicking on the ↓ and selecting the new state
click on the Alert, or multiple alerts and selecting
CHANGE
If multiple alerts are selected they will all be moved down one state i.e New
will move to Acknowledged
and Acknowledged
will move to Closed
.
Changing an alert by default will move it down a state. To move an alert up a state, expand the Alert by clicking on the ↓ and selecting the required state.
Alerts are shared across the system. If the alert has been sent to multiple people, changing the alert state will change the alert state for everyone on the alert distribution list
Viewing different states

The number beside each alert signifies the number of alerts on the system for the user.
Bulk changing alerts

. This will provide an option to change all the alerts currently downloaded or all the alerts on the system.
Changing a lot of alerts to a different state may take the system some time to process.
